Wow!!!....I am so sorry about this blog to all my fellow followers. We have been so busy lately, I have completely forgotten about our blog. My last blog was about the football game that we worked, and so much has happened since then. After the events of the football game, we had our first fundrasier and sold Country Meats meat sticks. There were various choices in the different types you could buy, and it was a good success. The school students responded well by purchasing them at lunch instead of buying goodies out of the vending machine. FBLA also held a blood drive in honor of the Red Cross and had a successful number of students contribute. Thanks to Casey Hubbard for being responsible for the blood drive and making sure it ran smooth. Also in December, we had our second annual FBLA Christmas party at Sports Blast in Carbondale. We had a great number show up even though it was after a basketball game, and everyone had a great time. Thanks to Sportsblast for letting us start off our Christmas break with a party there!
Earlier this year Herrin FBLA attended the regional conference at the Student Center of SIU, and if I may say so myself, we pretty much dominated! We had numerous winners in first, second, and third place. Each first place winner was given five dollars along with a certificate that each person received for placing in their event. There were eighteen schools at the event, and we had more people place than in any other school. Congratulations to all winners and everyone who participated and studied for their event!
As of now in FBLA, we are having a meeting TONIGHT at 5:30 in which everyone should attend. There will be a closed officer's meeting following to discuss important matters coming up such as FBLA-PBL week, which is next week, and the State Conference, which we will be attending on March 26-27 in Decatur, Illinois.
I will try to keep you posted as much as possible and do my best to keep this blog updated for once!
P.S. This blog is dedicated to Mrs. Frankel for getting on my case about updating the blog!...Yes I know Mrs. Frankel, I finally updated the blog!

Football Game
Thanks to all FBLA members who volunteered to work in the concession stand and worked last Friday! Great job!
October 6-Meeting
Our last meeting was a very short meeting in which we discussed upcoming events such as last Friday's football game, our social event, and fundraising. We have decided to sell beef jerky sticks, and there will be a minimum amount each member will be required to sell. We also discussed each person's events (if you don't have an event, see Mrs. Frankel). That was pretty much it for the meeting so I will keep you updated.

Short Memo
Hello again fellow bloggers... As you know, FBLA members went to the Cardinals/Cubs game on Sunday night, and it was a big success. We had a lot of fun even though we were seated in the nosebleed section, but at least we could see the whole field. There is no news of when our next meeting will be, but we are having an officer's meeting Thursday morning at 7:30 A.M.! All officers need to attend to plan this year's activities to become an Outstanding Chapter! That's all for now! I will keep you updated after our officer meeting!

Monday's Meeting
Hello again. As I told you in the last note, we had a meeting on Monday night. We had a good attendence, but it is encouraged that all members show up as much as possible. During the meeting, Nicole Staples, President, discussed the Cardinals game, and iteneraries were passed out along with a permission slip for parents to sign. The three committees, social, fundraising, and community service broke off into separate groups for a part of the night to discuss what they thought we should do during the year for each of the committees. The social committee discussed our Christmas party, which will probably be at Sports Blast in Carbondale like it was last year. The fundraising committee discussed possible fundraisers for the year, which included selling cookies and selling beef jerky sticks. We are hoping to get a good amount of money with the beef jerky sticks by selling them at lunch to students and faculty. The community service committee thought of ideas such as having a blood drive, which we will be putting on sometime on October or November. The t-shirt contest was won by Dalton Wagley, a sophmore, whom which majority voted for. His design will be posted on the website along with a picture of him to show his job well done. This year, Mrs. Frankel has decided to create a point system for who gets to go to the state competition in Decatur. In order to get points you must come to a certain number of meetings and study sessions and be involved with the group's activities as much as possible. In order to go, you have to have achieved a certain number of points. Those were the main topics of the meeting on Monday night, and I will continue to keep you informed on the date of our next meeting and what's happening in Herrin High School's FBLA!

"Simply The Best"
Hi, my name is Kristy, and I've been elected as the Reporter for the 2009-2010 school year. This year's FBLA hopes to acieve many goals and succesfully advance to Nationals, which are in Nashville,Tennessee. Tonight we will be having our second meeting of the year to discuss many topics, such as the Cardinals/Cubs game, which we will be attending on Sunday, September 20th, and we will be discussing the different committees and their responsibilities, such as fundraising, social events, and community serivice. We will also be voting on our t-shirt design contest, on which two people took part in. The winner will receive a free t-shirt, and their picture will be posted on the website. Following this meeting, I will be continuing to inform you on our year's activities, and share what our plan is to improve our Future Business Leaders of America from Herrin High School.
